Pooched It!

I poached this clip of poached footage from a morning moss sesh like 3 or 4 weeks ago. Mike Maines was on fire landing every trick possible. Props to T-Cab with the Smith Seq. Holla!

Bolton Park!

The Dream is now a reality, well, almost. Last weekend, John and I traveled North up to Bolton for an early sesh at the brand new Bolton Park. We got in a decent session with some of the local skate rats, the park wasnt 100% finished, but it was close enough. There were still large sections of concrete that still needed to dry, and they were tarped off. But the parts that we could skate were amazing. Its pretty cool when you get to see, and SKATE a park that you helped design from the ground up.

Pimp My Space

Recently, I recieved an email from Gordons people, requesting some footage for Andrew's MySpace page. I thought it was a little wierd, but whatever, some people like to pimp thier page.

"Hey Kris King. This is Andrew's friend.. we need the footage for him personally. We're editing his myspace and want some footage. We'll give you thanks. Email it to cxxxxxxxxxxn@hotmail.com Thanks man!"

Hopefully this footy will help Gordo mack hot internet bitches!

Bump to Three

This spot was recently blown up when the 5Boro team came and put the hurt down in Toronto. Its a really fun spot, and is tucked away from most anyone who would care, or kick you out. T-Cab and I decided to mission to find this spot, and came up succesful. We also found some other dope spots, such as a gnarly 11 stair with perfect run. Heres some of the footy from the day.

Plan Bizzle

Plan B - Life After Death

A real YouTube Gem. Amazing skating from the whole team. I think Ryan Galant gets the VIP on this one. PJ Ladd has to much control to be human. Classic Wenning footy aswell.

The Block is Hot!

Its nice to have some half decent weather these past few days and be able to skate with the crew of 428! Just a stones throw from our apartment is this curb spot. Its super rad cause they re-paved it, and left the parking blocks in during the process. The end result is a perfectly skatable, slappy-able, painted block. We wax the hell outta the bitch and grind for days. Heres what went down Sunday night!

Two Thumbs Up: The Lost Tapes

Simple Fact: To put together a video, you need to film.... alot. More often than not, you come up with footage that was just for the hell of it, or a "maybe this could work" angle, or just some stupid line that didnt go down. These next few videos will be just that, the unused tapes. Im in the works of putting together all the lost or old footage from the past Two Thumbs... I mean years. Enjoy!

Reppin Bolton

Labella and I recently had the opportunity to help plan, and design the new skatepark being built in Bolton, Ontario. The township of Caledon had a few meetings with the local skaters, and brought in a design firm to get started on some plans for the new park.

We didnt make it to the first meeting, but that wasnt a huge problem, because we hit the second one hard. It was obvious that the park was pretty un-skateable, and we knew that we could change that.

We set up a smaller third meeting, with the designer, town counsil, the rest of the KBS team and a few others. We came prepared with scale drawings and layouts of the park we wanted to build.

"No, Scrap it, We want this here, and this here.... NOW!" - John LaBella

We were amazed at open they were to our ideas, and actually willing to design what we had brought to the table. John, Phil and I completely re-worked the whole bottom half of the street section, added our own obstacles, and gave the park a much more skatable, flowing design.

They have already started construction, and they say it should be done towards the end of november. Its really a simple design, so I dont see any problems with that. We all know that skatepark deadlines are really just up in the air. Cant wait to skate it though.

Check out http://www.ccsk8.ca/ for more info on the park.

When Your Downtown

Its been amazing living downtown, just a quick skate or street car will get you to any spot. The 428 crew (T-Cab, Labella & King) hit up the streets with Mr. Adam Cseff during a recent visit. We didnt film much, but here's a little bit of footy from the night sesh.

Tyler O'Grady

I've known Tyler for a little while now. Ever since he was stoked on my high-top dunks, and told me he went to school with Amira. There have been alot of rumors going around about some serious shit this kid has put down. They are all true. Rob and Andrew LeGrave have been hyping him up for a while now, but I had only seen bits and pieces of his footage. His skating in person is amazing (funny to think he got beat by LaBella in skate! haha), huge pop and sick steeze.

This video clip is pretty amazing. Tyler is defiantly one of Torontos best up and coming skaters. Hopefully he can come out and shoot some photos with T-Cab, and get some recognition.

Busy Busy Buys

Its been a while since I posted some new footage on here. Dont get your hopes up, I got nothing. Well, thats a lie, Will has something, and since I have been busy as ____ lately, Im gonna steal it from him!

Just some recent park footy and a little fog bank action. Between work and moving/packing/unpacking I havent been out filming so much, but with the new apartment downtown, WESTmetroPRODUCTIONS could be on the rise! Stay tuned for some hot downtown actions.

Brick Banks

These banks suck. They really do. Interlock has no mercy, even when its formed into a perfectly shaped bank. Im sure Will would kill this place with his 62mm's and good bearings.

No one could really land anything on this thing, Cseff almost had some casper stalls and tre flips. Maybe we will go back... If anyone wants to skate it, Sherbourne and Richmond.

If you havent seen, or hurd about this video... wow. I have known about it for a while but had never really looked into it. I was blown away. Daewon and Haslam are stupid good. The video is posted in two parts. So... enjoi!

Concrete Wave Evolutions Vol. 2

Over the past month or so, I have been working in conjunction with Michael Brooke at Concrete Wave (the magazine, not the TV show) to produce the yearly Concrete Wave Evolutions DVD. Its appox. two and a half hours long, and features all sorts of different types of skateboarding from all over Canada, and the world. Its been a fun experience, and at the end, I got paid. I'm hoping it will give WESTmetro & Double.U Productions some good exposure. Will @ Double.U Productions contributed to the project by creating a sick edit. See Above.

The DVD is getting mass produced, 10,000 copies, and will be premiered at the ASR trade show in California. The video will also be broadcast on Google.Video.com, and will probably find its way over to YouTube.

Here is a screen shot of the main menu.

I was just surfing the net today at work, and i remebered about a web page i had created in grade 10 or 11 comm tech. Straight HTML ballin! I couldnt believe that it was still being hosted. Thanks GeoCities, for keeping my shitty webpage alive.

Pretty much a goldmine of shitty 35mm photos.

Market Research

C1RCA sent a memo to all thier flow riders saying they had conducted hours of market research, and that Kickflip Frontside Tailslides would be the hot trick of 2006. They also attached a how to guide for those who were a little behind:

1- Watch Jon Allies Its Time Part
2- Wear Tight Tapered Pants, Preferably Black
3- Drink Budwiser Tall Cans
4- Repeat steps 1-3 in various orders until the perfect outcome of Kickflip frontside Tailslide-ism

So Will and I are working on the KBS video for next year. We have no idea what we are going to call it yet, there are a few names being tossed around right now. Here is a trailer we put together for the TTU DVD.

Two Thumbs Too Many!

Friday the 2nd of June played host to our second premiere of Two Thumbs Up! This time the crew headed up to Bolton for some Thumb action. There was a solid turn out of kids, skaters and beer. Rumor has it, Ron got so wasted, that he was arrested and put in the drunk tank. Nah, im just josh'n, he just had a little alarm incident at 1 in the morning. Thanks to everyone who came out to support the vid, and to Ron and Eric at KBS for putting on a hell of a show!

In Da Ghetto!

Sometimes, things just come together and work out just swell!

Will, Juan Johnny and I were driving around on our way to skate some flat bars in the Dundas/Dixie area, and we stumbled upon this really old bank. Juan was telling us Mcmurder used to rip it back in the day, and had a photo on it. BS flip? Anyways, its a pretty haggard spot; rough run up, step bank, crack at the bottom and the pavement seam. So we get there, and Will just jumps outta the car and straigh rides the thing. He was rocking the filmimg board with like gel 60mm's and some fast bearings. I couldnt skate the thing worth shit, so i busted out the flashes and set up for a photo. Will put down a few of these steezin wheely grabs, and the rest is history.

April Sesh's Bring May Hesh's

Ahhhhhh April. This weather has been wayyyyyyy to nice. Kindof has drawn my focus away from eveything and towards the good ol wood planks. The past few weeks have been filled with awesome weather, and great sessions. Its been a pleasure to skate with the one and only Mr. Nick Folco, who has recently doubled in size, and quadrupled in sexiness. I cant wait for May!

Some Like it RAW!

The Ledgenday T-Cab has inspired me to shoot more in-depth with my camera. I hardly shoot raw, or seriously for that matter. This, i cant say is very serious either, but it was just fun to play around with some settings i dont use hardly enough. They come out nice and crisp. Not to mention the lighting was mint. Good old curve ledge.

Good Old Days

I recently recieved an email from my friend Kevin Rasmussen, (see AMC Ransack Video) that said he had found a sweet old photo in his closet by accident. Im not quite sure how old it is, but I mean, me and John are rocking Power shit pretty hard, except for the fact that im wearing vans. Yeah. Those were the good ol days! Anways, I never landed this stupid switch heel, maybee ill go back and do it soon...

Ohhhh Sh!t in the Ohhhh Six

2006 is already shaping up to be a good year for skating. Footage is rolling in, and Toronto seems to be quite skatable again. Hour long sessions at UofT and a 30-40 minute stint at Unitel aint half bad. Most of the footage this year will be going towards the King Boardshop video, which remains untitled. Expect full parts from Juan, Condren, Phil, the new ripper Mitch Pryma, Lil B, John Labella, Nic Horbatz, Kris King, and whatever chill Salmon decides to film. Should be sexy!

Damnnn Guurrllll

As you may or may not have known, this past summer Girl skateboards went on a cross Canada tour blitz. There was supposed to be a demo at Iceland, but, it got rained out and moved to CBMK. Aside from the demos, the Girl squad put quite a hurtin on Toronto and most of its well known spots. New ams Mike Mo and Sean Malto didnt just sit around and take notes. Unitel felt the wrath of a Mike Mo switch flip. Proper. I hope this is a taste of things to come as the spring weather draws nearer every day. HYPE!

Dead Balls

This is a behind the scenes clip I shot during production of Dead Balls, a Tennis comedy. Shown here is Lyndon Casey playing Adam, a young up-rising hot shot. This is just an insert scene where he is going through the emotions of getting his ass wopped by Turk Bungert, a straight outta the 80's tennis legend.

February 26, 2006

AMC Ransack

I still call this clip "AMC" Ransack, despite the obvious fact that it was shot at the Famous Players 9 set ledge. LaBella is always houndin me out on that one. Basically this clip is amazing for 3 reasons. One - "Buddy" tries to choke slam me as I roll up to the ledge in attempt of a kickflip noseslide. Two - Kevin Rasmussen gets allup inda faceeee. Three - I still cant decide who's T shirts are better... our sick power threads, or jocko homo and his pals reppin the Famous Players faux Hawaiian shirt get ups. Fuck you and your shit, we still skate there all the time. Biiiiatch.

I Know You Have One Too...

Everybody has that drawer in thier room where they keep old photos and VHS dubs of skate videos you made from your friends. I will admit it, I have like 5 of those drawers. But just last night, I discovered that I have the digital equilivent to that drawer. My hard drive is like a maze sometimes. I was just going through photos trying to find a specific one I wanted to post, and I stumbled upon hundreds of hillarious, and amazing photos from when I was in grade 9, or even before. Making The Cut

This is a production I am currently working on as the location mixer (sound for those not audio knownledged). This short film is based around the main character, Larry, who is dating a jewish girl, Clair, and is conviced by his office co-workers, Jake & Steve, to get a circumsision. The talent in this film is amazing. Between takes is when the real money goes down. In additon to recording sound for the film, I am also shooting some produciton stills. Here are a few that Made the Cut.

Mike McCourt VS Commerce Court - Just the sound of this clip is enough to make you wanna be there. Anyone who skated this ledge knows how truely satisfying it was. LaBella was supposed to shoot a willy grind photo on this bad ass, but i guess that won't happen... RIP commerce front ledge.

PS. Im pretty sure McCourt Won This Round.

Killer Boots Man

Tuesdays Common Grounds Adventure consisted of Mr. John LaBella, Sir Carmine LaBella, and Myself. It was an old fashioned skate fest. We got into Woodbrige around 2:40 and ate some pizza slices while Carm proceded to learn switch shoveit late flips in the parking lot. We started skating around 3:00, before we knew it, 6 hours had gone by and it was nearing 9:00. Having the place all to yourself really makes a difference, and this was without a doubt, the best sesh I have had there in a long time.

Official Game of Skate Tally: John - 2, Kris - 2, Carm - a Million.
Carm had Switch Tre's on Lock. I once hurd a rumor about Guy Mariano being able to throw down switch tres over a pyramid in Timberlands. Until yesterday, I though that might be a little crazy.

Fine Tuning with John LaBella

Back in Highschool, John and I were asked by Cogeco/Boardtopia to put together some segments for a TV series "Boardmania". Apparently it was aired, and tapes of the show exist somewhere. I might have to stroll over to Cogeco and see if I can grab some dubs. Neither John or I has ever seen the completed episodes. This is one of the segments that may or may not be floating around on cable access television.

Mocumentary - A Look Behind The Scenes

Photos: Andrew Norton

Audio equipment put a slight delay on the first shoot. Needless to say, it was worth fixing the problem, and having quality audio. Today, we are planning to shoot a street style segment in Toronto, updates will follow. For the mean time...
